Meeting of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Minister of International Development and La Francophonie of Québec

On October 10, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandian met Minister of International Development and La Francophonie of Québec Christine St-Pierre, who arrived in Yerevan to take part in the 31st Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF).

Welcoming the guest, Edward Nalbandian mentioned that he was glad to welcome in Yerevan a high-level delegation from Québec and commended Québec’s active participation in the works of different OIF structures. The Minister recalled with warmth the decision adopted at the 24th OIF Summit on October 18, 2008, 7 years earlier, to grant Armenia an associated membership status.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Christine St-Pierre highly appreciated the activity and initiatives of Armenia since the Québec Summit, becoming full member of the Organization in the short period of time by today hosting that much important event – Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, the sides discussed a wide range of issues on the agenda of the OIF Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

Minister St-Pierre highly commended the role of the Armenian community of Québec in political, public, cultural and economic life.

Minister Nalbandian expressed gratitude for the principled position of Québec in the recognition of the Armenian Genocide. Christine St-Pierre presented events held in Canada and Québec on the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.
