Official visit of Foreign Minister of Armenia to Kyrgyzstan

On April 3-4, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian paid an official visit to Kyrgyzstan.

The visit kicked off with the meeting with President of Kyrgyz Republic Almazbek Atambayev.

Expressing gratitude for the reception, Edward Nalbandian conveyed to President Atambayev the greetings of the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.

Both sides’ readiness to undertake efficient steps towards the development of cooperation between Armenia and Kyrgyzstan was stressed at the meeting. In this context, importance was attached to the organization of mutual visits, the strengthening of legal framework and the development of trade and economic ties.

The President of Kyrgyzstan and Foreign Minister of Armenia reflected on bilateral cooperation within regional integration processes.

The sides exchanged thoughts on a number of regional issues and ways to settle them.

President Atambayev requested to convey his good wishes to President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.

In Bishkek Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Djoomart Otorbaev.

Welcoming Minister Nalbandian, Prime Minister Djoomart Otorbaev mentioned that he had an opportunity to visit Armenia in different capacities and based on his personal experience and observations concluded that the economies of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan share many common features, and there is a considerable potential for the development of cooperation in trade and commerce. Prime Minister Otorbaev commended the established partner relations between the Governments of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, a range of issues on the development of the Armenian-Kyrgyz trade and economic ties were reflected on, importance was attached to the works of the Inter-Governmental Committee. In this regard, significance was placed to the enhancement of the legal framework, holding of business-forums.

The Prime Minister of Kyrgzstan noted that his country is interested in studying and implementing Armenia’s experience in high-tech, jewelry industry and tourism.

During the meeting, prospects of cooperation within Eurasian Union were reflected on.

On April 4, the meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, respectively Edward Nalbandian and Erlan Abdyldaev was held.

Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan welcomed Foreign Minister of Armenia’s first visit to Bishkek since the establishment of the relations, stressing that his country attaches significance to further development of friendly relations with Armenia.

The Ministers had thorough conversation on the issues of activation of the political dialogue, fostering of the inter-parliamentary ties, promotion of trade and economic cooperation, cultural ties.

Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Kyrgyzstan agreed on the organization of regular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and drafting of an appropriate program to regulate them.

Issues of cooperation between Armenia and Kyrgyzstan within international structures and integration processes were on the agenda of the meeting.

Edward Nalbandian invited his counterpart to visit Armenia.
