The meeting of Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Georgia

On April 12 Acting Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met Maia Panjikidze, Foreign Minister of Georgia, who was in Yerevan on an official visit.

Welcoming the guest, Edward Nalbandian noted that the Armenian-Georgian friendly relations are on a high level, which is proved by the regularity of political dialogue, expanding trade turnover, active cultural-scientific cooperation. He highlighted that according to the reached agreement, meetings between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries have a frequent character, which contributes significantly to the development of relations.

Expressing his gratitude for the invitation, Minister Panjikidze stressed that the Georgian authorities are consistent with the deepening of cooperation with Armenia and the official visit is exactly within that logic.

During the meeting, the Acting Foreign Minister of Armenia and the Foreign Minister of Georgia had a detailed discussion on the implementation of the agreements reached during the meetings of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the Prime-Minister and the Armenian authorities in January of this year, they touched upon the expansion of economic cooperation, issues concerning the promotion of exchanges in the humanitarian sphere, exchanged views on other issues concerning the agenda of Armenian-Georgian relations and the bilateral steps taken to resolve them.

The sides touched upon the interstate demarcation process, the activities of the working group created for that purpose.

The agenda of the talks included the problems which Georgian-Armenians are concerned with and their resolution steps carried out by the Georgian authorities.

Edward Nalbandian and Maia Panjikidze discussed cooperation between the two countries in international organizations, issues concerning the schedule of consultations between the departments of the Foreign Ministries.

The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Georgia exchanged views on regional issues.
It was agreed that the next meeting of the Ministers will be in May.
