19 October, 2012

On October 19 the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian hosted the delegation of the European Forum for Democracy and Solidarity led by Vice-Chair Jan Marinus Wiersma. The delegation included members of the European Parliament Kristian Vigenin, María Muñiz de Urquiza and Edit Herczog, as well as other experts of international relation.

In the course of the meeting the sides had a thorough talk on the relations between Armenia and the European Union, the projects being implemented within those frames, the Association Agreement and the progress achieved in the ongoing negotiations over the creation of Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone.

During the talk, the pre-signed agreement on visa regime facilitation, completed the previous day, was stressed, which according to the sides, would contribute to the people-to-people contacts and exchanges between Armenia and the EU countries.

The interlocutors exchanged views on parliamentary format of the cooperation between Armenia and the EU, underlining its important contribution to the strengthening and expanding of the interaction.

Upon the request of the guests, Edward Nalbandian presented the process of the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and Azerbaijan’s destructive steps. In that context Minister Nalbandian highly assessed the EU’s unequivocal reaction over Safarov’s affair and the condemning resolution adopted by the European Parliament.
