The Armenian Embassy was opened in Copenhagen
23 November, 2011On November 23, the Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian arrived in Denmark on an official visit.
The official opening ceremony of the Republic of Armenia's Embassy to the Kingdom of Denmark was the first point on the visit's agenda of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Danish Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Vammen, high-ranking officials of the MFA, Ambassadors accredited to Copenhagen and representatives of the Armenian community attended the ceremony, as well.
Under the national anthem of Armenia, the Ambassador of Armenia to Denmark Hrachya Aghajanyan raised the state flag of the Republic of Armenia.
Afterwards, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian and Danish Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Vammen cut the red ribbon.
Delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, Minister Nalbandian mentioned, 'Raising Armenia's flag in the capital of Denmark, we voice about our commitment to raise our bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level.'
In his speech, Edward Nalbandian touched upon the Armenian-Danish similarities, the humanitarian position shown by the Danish missionaries to the Armenian refugees and orphans during the years of the Armenian Genocide and the aid provided by Denmark to Armenia after the earthquake of 1988, as well as the development assistance to Armenia since the independence.
The Armenian Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed confidence that the Embassy would have a serious contribution to the deepening of comprehensive relations with friendly Denmark.
The Danish Minister for European Affairs Nicolai Vammen addressed a speech at the opening ceremony of the RA Embassy, as well. In his speech Minister Vammen noted that it is a special day as embassies are opened not every day and the last time such event took place in Copenhagen was in 2007. He highly appreciated the Armenian government’s decision to open a diplomatic mission in Denmark. In his speech Nicolai Vammen touched upon the Armenian-Danish historical ties and the humanitarian activities of the Danish missionaries, as well. Nicolai Vammen expressed satisfaction with the currently actively developing relations between Armenia and the European Union and expressed hope that the bilateral relations would be seriously developed by joint efforts.
