The Armenian Foreign Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandian met with the YSU’s students and professors
13 May, 2011On May 13, the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian visited the
Yerevan State University, where he had a meeting with the professors,
teaching staff and students of various faculties of the University.
The meeting was initiated by the YSU Student Council in the frames of the
20 th Anniversary of the Republic of Armenia.
In his speech, Edward Nalbandian said,
"Dear youth, you are probably often told that you are the future of the
country. It is a simple truth and the bright example of it is that the
first graduates and audience of the MFA’s new established Diplomatic
School who have already taken diplomatic office at the RA Ministry of
Foreign Affairs are the graduates of this University. Those young people,
who sat on your student chairs yesterday, today work at the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs of Armenia and they will form the foreign policy of our
country tomorrow.
You have approximately the same age as our newly independent state, 20th
year of which expires this year. You were born along with our newly
independent state and as much you grow up, you will have the age of our
country. Its concerns and successes, difficulties and victories were a
part of your life. I wish you success- your successes will be the
successes of our country.
I stress the importance of the meetings of these type that have become a
traditional as during those meetings I have an opportunity not only to
present the foreign policy conducted by Armenia, but also get acquainted
with your viewpoints."
The Armenian Foreign Minister presented in detail the main directions and
priorities of Armenia’s foreign policy, relations with different countries
and steps undertaking towards the expansion of those relations, as well as
the positions of Armenia on the processes developing in the international
arenas and works implemented in defense of the interests of Armenia and
its citizens in abroad.
Edward Nalbandian had a thorough talk on the settlement of the
Nagorno-Karabakh issue, as well. Edward Nalbandian answered to numerous
questions of the students.
