The Armenian Foreign Affairs Minister Edward Nalbandian met with his Latvian counterpart Ģirts Valdis Kristovskis
09 March, 2011On March 9, the Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian who is in Riga as a member of the delegation led by the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan on an official visit to Latvia, met with his Latvian counterpart Ģirts Valdis Kristovskis.
Minister Nalbandian mentioned that the visit of the Armenian President to Latvia and agreements reached between the Presidents of the two countries are an important background for bilateral relations. Edward Nalbandian also added that it is a proof of reciprocal readiness for further deepening and strengthening of the relations between Armenia and Latvia.
In the course of the meeting the Foreign Affairs Ministers of the two countries had a thorough talk on a wide range of issues related to the further development of the Armenian-Latvian relations, particularly interaction in the international organizations, holding of consultations between the Foreign Ministries, as well as the steps undertaken towards the intensification of economic cooperation and cultural exchanges.
Edward Nalbandian and Ģirts Valdis Kristovskis touched upon the relations between Armenia and European Union. They also discussed the possibilities of bilateral cooperation in the frames of European Neighborhood Policy and Eastern Partnership Program.
Upon the request of the Latvian Foreign Minister, Edward Nalbandian presented the recent developments in the settlement of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) issue.
Edward Nalbandian invited Ģirts Valdis Kristovskis to pay a visit to Armenia.
