25 June, 2010On June 25, the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian received Mustafa Jassim Al-Shemali, the Minister of Finance of the State of Kuwait who is in Yerevan.
Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian mentioned that the Armenian and Arab nations are connected by a century old friendship and today inter-state relations are successively developing on that basis. Edward Nalbandian added that the development of comprehensive relations with the Arab world is one of the primary directions of Armenia’s foreign policy. Minister Nalbandian described as crucial the official visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia to Kuwait in November 2008, after which a progress is registered in a number of areas of cooperation, the Embassy of Armenia is established in Kuwait.
Mustafa Jassim Al-Shemali, the Minister of Finance of the State of Kuwait thanked for warm reception and delivered the greetings of Sheikh Mohammad Sabah al-Salem al-Sabah, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to Edward Nalbandian and mentioned with satisfaction that the agreements reached during the visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia are being implemented.
The Kuwaiti Minister of Finances reiterated that his country is intended to expand cooperation with friendly Armenia and is already undertaking specific steps in that direction, mentioning that his visit would be followed by other visits of the Kuwaiti high-ranking officials.
The two had a detailed discussion on the issues concerning the enlargement of interaction between the two countries in the areas of trade and economy, education, science and agriculture. With this regard Minister Nalbandian mentioned that Armenia welcomes and supports the Kuwaiti investments in the different fields of Armenia’s economy.
The Armenian Foreign Minister welcomed the signing of Agreement on the promotion and protection of investment which is to take place today and attached importance to the correspondence and signing of the Agreement on economic and technical cooperation in the near future. They both mentioned that the establishment of air communication between Armenia and Kuwait would promote the development of economic cooperation.
Minister Nalbandian asked to deliver his greetings to his Kuwaiti counterpart and reiterated his invitation to visit Yerevan addressed to him.
