The visit of Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Arman Kirakossian to Der-Dzor

On February 11, the delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Arman Kirakossian arrived in Deir ez-Zor. The delegation was received by Hussein Arnous, the Governor of Deir ez-Zor and Taha Khalifa, Head of the Baath party’s regional Office in Deir Ez-Zor.

In the course of the conversation the parties attached importance to the opening of the Office of Honorary Consul in Der ez-Zor and expressed hope that it will become a bridge for the deepening of cooperation in the areas of economy, culture and science between Armenia and the province of Deir ez-Zor. Arman Kirakossian thanked the authorities of Deir ez-Zor for kind and warm attitutde towards Armenian community.

On the same day the blessing ceremony of the official flag of the Republic of Armenia took place in the Armenian church. Three religious leaders of the Armenia community, as well as heads of provincial leadership and numerous representatives of the Armenian community form all over Syria, attended the ceremony.
After the ceremony the procession led to the Office of Honorary Consul of Armenia. Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Ambassador of Armenia in Syria and the Governor of Deir ez-Zor delivered opening speeches. Ambassadors, Consuls of foreign countries accredited in Syria, journalists, political and cultural figures, representatives of the Syrian Armenian community attended the opening ceremony of the Office of Honorary Consul.

On the same day in the evening a reception was organized where the newly appointed Honorary Consul inhabitant of Deir ez-Zor Suren Vardanyan delivered a speech.
