Head of the Armenian Mission to the European Union, Ambassador Avet Adonts presents his credentials to the President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso 23
23 July, 2009On July 23, Ambassador Avet Adonts, Head of Armenian mission to the European Union, presented his credentials to José Manuel Barroso, the President of the European Commission.
After the ceremony, the two have discussed Armenia – European Union relations and the perspectives of their development.
Congratulating Mr. Adonts, the President of the European Commission reaffirmed the EU’s readiness to continue the cooperation with Armenia, stressing the possibilities provided by the Eastern Partnership. He welcomed the efforts of the Armenian President aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Artsakh issue and normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.
Ambassador Adonts presented the recent developments in the negotiations of the Artsakh issue as well as the current state of Armenian-Turkish normalization.
The two discussed also issues related on a free trade agreement between Armenia and the European Union, visa facilitation and the democratic reforms in Armenia.
