President of Armenia will pay an official visit to Hungary

On July 9, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian arrived in Budapest on a short visit.

Upon arriving in the capital city of Hungary, Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with his counterpart Péter Balázs.

The agenda of the meeting between Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Hungary included a wide range of issues: preparations of the Armenian President’s forthcoming official visit to Hungary, bilateral cooperation, Armenia-European Union relations as well as regional and international issues.

Ministers Nalbandian and Balázs highly appreciated the tendency of the development of Armenian-Hungarian relation and mentioned the necessity of intensification of the high-level  visits and the political dialogue as a guarantee of the development of comprehensive cooperation.

The two touched upon the ways of deepening of economic cooperation. Within this context, Armenian Foreign Minister attached importance to the organization of the business forums and the creation of the legal field. The Ministers agreed to intensify the preparations of the agreements in economic area to be signed during the visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia to Hungary.

In the course of the negotiations they also had a detailed discussion on different areas of Armenia-European Union cooperation, as well as the steps to be taken towards the intensification of bilateral partnership within the frameworks of the European Neighbourhood Policy and the Eastern Partnership program.

Foreign Minister of Armenia presented to Hungarian Foreign Minister the recent developments in the negotiation process of the settlement of Artsakh issue.

On Edward Nalbandian’s request Péter Balázs presented the processes in the European Union after the elections ïû the European Parliament, as well as the process of formation of the Europe Commission.

Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Hungary also discussed the process of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.

The meeting of the Ministers was followed by the joint press conference; afterwards Edward Nalbandian gave an interview to the Hungarian television.

In Budapest Edward Nnalbandian accompanied by the representatives of the Hungarian Armenian community laid a wreath on the monument to the Armenian Genocide victims.

On the same day Edward Nalbandian left for Bucharest.
