Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian meets Benita Ferrero-Waldner in Prague
06 May, 2009On May 6, on arriving in Prague the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with Benita Ferrero-Waldner, the European Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy.
Minister Nalbandian and Commissioner Ferrero-Waldner had a comprehensive talk on different areas of the Armenia-European Union cooperation, particularly on the implementation process of the Action plan provided by the European New Neighborhood Policy, the activities of the EU Adviser Group which supports the reforms at the Armenia’s official institutions.
Touching upon the Summit of Eastern Partnership to be held in Prague on May 7 Edward Nalbandian mentioned that this new format of cooperation with the European Union contains a great potential and Armenia intends participating actively in that program.
On the request of the EU Commissioner the Armenian Foreign Minister presented the latest development in the process of normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations. Benita Ferrero-Waldner on behalf of the European Commission expressed her full support for the steps undertaken in that direction.
The two also touched upon the possibilities of settlement of the Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) issue and the regional security issues.
