Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian meets with Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, the OSCE Secretary General

On December 15, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian met with Marc Perrin de Brichambaut, the OSCE Secretary General, who arrived in Yerevan by Minister’s invitation.
In his welcoming remarks Minister Nalbandian mentioned that Armenia as an OSCE member-state is interested in continuing cooperation within the OSCE’s all three dimensions and in that regard attaches importance to the reform of the organization to make it more effective. Armenian Foreign Minister also stressed that Europe needs a new security architecture which will take into account all existing concerns.


Edward Nalbandian and Mark Perrin de Brichambaut summed up the results of the recent OSCE Ministerial Council. The two attached importance the consolidation of the provisions in the documents adopted at the meeting, aimed at the promotion of cooperation in the OSCE area.
Speaking about the opportunities of settlement of Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) issue Edward Nalbandian emphasized the role of the OSCE in the settlement process and praised the Statement of the OSCE Foreign Ministers and Joint Declaration of Foreign Ministers of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair countries on Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) peace process adopted in Helsinki.


The two also touched upon the activity of the OSCE Yerevan Office and the programs being implemented by it. In that context Edward Nalbandian mentioned that Armenia welcomes OSCE permanent presence in Yerevan.
The meeting was followed by joint press conference; afterwards Minister Nalbandian hosted an official dinner in honor of the OSCE Secretary General.
