Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian meets with Lazar Comanescu, Foreign Minister of Romania

On November 15th, Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian met with Lazăr Comănescu, Foreign Minister of Romania who had arrived in Armenia for a working visit.

In his welcoming remarks Minister Nalbandian expressed satisfaction on traditional friendship between the Armenian and Romanian nations and on the dynamic development of the Armenian-Romanian relations. The Armenian Foreign Minister underlined the necessity to broaden the political dialogue and expressed his hope that the European integration can become a new format for cooperation. Edward Nalbandian attached importance to the cooperation between Romania within the framework of EU European Neighbourhood Policy Action plan. The Armenian Foreign Minister also stressed the necessity toward undertaking the specific steps for activation of bilateral partnership.

In his turn Lazăr Comănescu also highly appreciated friendly relationship between Armenia and Romania and emphasized the determination of his country for its further deepening. The Romanian Foreign Minister attached importance to the role of the Armenian community in the development of bilateral relations.

In the context of regional cooperation the Romanian Foreign Minister attached importance to the Black Sea Synergy Program, as well as to the realization of bilateral partnership during the Armenian Chairmanship in the BSEC.

Ministers touched upon the necessity to widen the bilateral economic cooperation and attached importance to the entire utilization of the Armenian-Romanian economic potential.

The two discussed issues of mutual interest, particularly Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) peace process and recent regional developments.

The meeting of the Armenia and Romanian Foreign Ministers was followed by the press conference.
