Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Gegham Gharibjanian receives the Delegation of National Council of Switzerland
09 October, 2008On October 9, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Gegham Gharibjanian received the delegation of National Council of Switzerland, headed by Co-Chairs of Switzerland-Armenia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Deputies of National Council Dominique de Buman and Ueli Leunenberger.
Swiss MPs highly appreciated Armenian-Swiss friendly relations which are based on centuries-old historical and cultural ties between Armenia and Switzerland.
In his turn Gegham Gharibjanian expressed satisfaction with high level of Armenian-Swiss relations and mentioned that Armenia is interested in further broadening and deepening of those relations. In that context he highly appreciated the role of parliamentary diplomacy and assured that the new Chairman of Armenian National Assembly will promote the further development of inter-Parliamentary relation between the two countries. With regard to the development of bilateral relations Deputy Foreign Minister attached importance to opening of diplomatic mission of Switzerland to Armenia and extension of bilateral legal field.
The two expressed hope that active political dialogue will promote deepening of economic ties between Armenian and Switzerland. On guests’ request Gegham Gharibjanian presented Armenia’s position on recent developments in the region of South Caucasus, Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) peace process and normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations.
