Newly appointed US Ambassador presents the copies of her credentials to Armenian Foreign Minister

On September 19 Marie Jovanovitch, newly appointed US Ambassador to Armenia presented the copies of her credentials to Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.

Welcoming the guest, Armenian Foreign Minister congratulated her on the appointment as US Ambassador to Armenia and wished her success in her diplomatic mission.
In the course of the meeting the two discussed perspectives of development of bilateral relations. Minister Nalbandian stressed, that Armenia attaches importance to the deepening of comprehensive relations with the United States of America and will pursue the development and strengthening of friendly partnership and cooperation between the two countries.

Minister Nalbandian and Ambassador Jovanovitch also touched upon recent developments in Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. Edward Nalbandian mentioned that Minsk Group is an acting format of Nagorno-Karabakh peace talks, which has proved its vitality and enjoys the support of the international community. He underlined that the negotiations which are going on in Minsk Group format and  based on Madrid proposals can bring to the settlement of the issue.
Touching upon recent regional developments Armenian Foreign Minister mentioned that Armenia was always in favor and continues to be confident that the military solution of the problems has no perspective.
On Ambassador’s request, Minister Nalbandian presented the possibilities of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations. Armenian Foreign Minister reiterated Armenia’s readiness to establish diplomatic relations with Turkey and open Armenian-Turkish border without preconditions. By Minister Nalbandian’s definition the invitation of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan to his Turkish counterpart and the President Gul’s visit to Armenia create historic opportunity for normalization of relations.
US new Ambassador assured that she would do her best to develop and broaden Armenian-American relations.
