Hranoush Hakobyan, the Head of the RA MFA State Committee for Relations with Diaspora met Reena Pandey, Ambassador of India to Armenia.
02 September, 2008On September 1 Hranoush Hakobyan, the Head of the RA MFA State Committee for Relations with Diaspora met Ms Reena Pandey, Ambassador of India to Armenia.
In the course of the meeting Ms. Hakobyan noticed that Armenian community is one of the oldest communities in India and it has played its role in the development of Armenian – Indian relations. She also spoke about the Ministry, functioning in the governmental structure of India, that deals with the issues of Indians overseas and asked Ms. Pandey to present details on that Ministry.
Ms. Pandey welcomed the idea of establishment of Ministry of Diaspora in Armenia and stressed the importance of the initiatives in that field. Indian Ambassador also presented the structure of the Ministry that deals with the Indian Diaspora’s issues, its functions and programs being implemented.
Hranoush Hakobyan attached importance to the evaluation of the experience of India, concerning legal, essential and organizational issues in the area of Diaspora.
The two also underlined the importance of experience exchange between the two countries and deepening of their partnership, which will promote further development of the Armenian – Indian traditional friendly relations.
