Hranoush Hakobian, the Head of Foreign Ministry’s State Committee for Relations with Diaspora had a meeting with the leadership of Armenian National Academy of Sciences, Academicians

On July 1 in the National Academy of Sciences Hranoush Hakobian had a meeting with Radik Martirossian, President of the National Academy of Sciences, Vladimir Barkhudarian, Vice-president of the National Academy of Sciences, Ruben Safrastian and Ashot Melqonian, Directors of the institutes of Oriental Studies and History of the National Academy of Sciences and a number of other scientists and post graduate students.
In his opening remarks Radik Martirossian highly praised praise the initiative of Hranoush Hakobian to meet with Armenian scientists and discuss issues concerning the strengthening of Armenia – Diaspora ties, as well as issues concerning the competences of Diaspora Ministry to be created in October.
In her speech Hranoush Hakobian noted that the President of Armenia in his pre-electoral program has considered one of the important provisions the problem of the protection of the Armenian people in Diaspora and the usage of the whole Armenians input in developing and strengthening Armenia. For that reason a corresponding structure has been set up in the government. Stressing the importance of Armenian scientists’ role she expressed her expectations that they will present their approaches and viewpoints concerning the activities and functions of the newly created body, and strengthening the Armenia – Diaspora relations. She noted that ideological, legal, financial, economical and organizational mechanisms are being developed for supporting the activity of the governing body.
The scientists greeting the establishment of the Diaspora Ministry, saying that it will show importance to the unity of Diaspora, strengthening of Pan-Armenian ideas in different Diaspora organisations, the use of the Diaspora’s input in overcoming the challenges that Armenia faces and the involvement of Armenian Republic in the protection of educational, cultural heritage and churches in the overseas.
At the end of the meeting the scientists presented Hranoush Hakobian with more than 20 scientific works published the Academy.
