Minister Nalbandian received Aivars Vovers the ambassador of Latvia to Armenia
21 May, 2008On 21 of May the Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian received Aivars Vovers the ambassador of Latvia to Armenia on the occasion of acomplishment of his diplomatic mission to Armenia.
Minister Nalbandian expressing his gratefulness to the Ambassador for the development of the relations between Armenia and Latvia during the six years of his service, noted that there is a high level dialogue between the two countries, there a solid legal basis exists, and there is also a potential for strengthening of cooperation, especially in the fields of economy, high technologies, culture and tourism. The Foreign Minister of Armenia exprssed his interest in examining the experience of European integration of Latvia and other Baltic countries and to undertake steps for cooperation in that direction.
Ambassador Vovers expressed his gratitude to the Minister Nalbandian and emphasized that in parallel with the remarkable development of Armenia the bilateral relations in different ares have developed as well. Particularly,he noted effective cooperation between the state bodies of Armenia and Latvia, establishment of Latvian Honorary consulate Yerevan, one of the largest latvian banks is functioning in Armenia, a direct flight from Riga to Armenia was opened, the business contacts are developing.
The two discussed also some issues concerning concrete fields of bilateral cooperation.
