The Meeting of Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and the Council of Europe Secretary General Terry Davis

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, who is in Strasbourg with a working visit, met the Secretary General of the Council of Europe Terry Davis.

Congratulating Minister Nalbandian on his appointment, CoE’s Secretary General said that he signifies the appointment of such an experienced diplomat and is convinced that during officiate of Minister Edward Nalbandian the cooperation between Armenia and the Council of Europe will strengthen ever more.

Minister Nalbandian said that the Armenian Government is determined to continue the realization of its policy of democratic reforms as it is the conscious choice of the Armenian people.
           
The two touched upon the presidential elections held in Armenia and the developments followed. Secretary General Terry Davis praised the fact that the Armenian President created the Working Group, holding by the dispositions of the 1609th resolution of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.

Minister Nalbandian and Terry Davis also discussed the proposal of a fact-finding mission to Armenia and Azerbaijan aimed at estimating the situation of the Armenian and the Azerbaijani cultural heritage. Minister Nalbandian confirmed the position of Armenia in this context.

The sides discussed the present state of the Nagorno Karabakh problem settlement, the resolution perspectives and the Armenian-Turkish relations.
