Minister Oskanian Meets with Jոn Kubis, Foreign Minister of the Slovak Republic and Chairman of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers

On February 25, 2008, Minister Oskanian received a delegation headed by Ján Kubiş, Foreign Minister of the Slovak Republic and Chairman of the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers.

During the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers spoke about the presidential elections held in Armenia on February 19, 2008. The Slovak Minister informed his counterpart that the time for his visit was not accidental: it was his wish to come to our country a few days after the elections in order to see and study the situation here. On the guest’s request, Minister Oskanian presented the post-electoral developments in Armenia, as well as the outcome of the appeals and recount. 

Furthermore, the two touched upon the bilateral relations, underscoring the potential for further development in economic and legislative spheres. Minister Kubiş said that 3 members of Slovak government will visit Armenia during this year, which is certain to boost Armenia – Slovakia relationship.

They also discussed Armenia – EU relations, and the pace and progress of EU’s European Neighborhood Policy Action Plan with Armenia. 

Minister Oskanian also presented the Armenian side’s approaches to Armenia – Turkey relations, as well as the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement process.
