The Mercosur Parliament Recognizes the Armenian Genocide
22 November, 2007The Parliament of MERCOSUR (the Southern Common Market including Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay) passed a resolution which had been unanimously adopted by the Human Rights Commission of the same parliament acknowledging the Genocide carried out against Armenians.
The November 19 decision of the Parliament underscored that the parliament of Mercosur resolutely condemns the Genocide carried out against Armenians from 1915 to 1923 by the Ottoman Empire and at the same time appeals to the governments and parliaments which haven’t yet recognized the Armenian Genocide to make similar decisions.
