Armenias Foreign Minister Received a Delegation from the National Council of the Swiss Confederation
09 November, 2007On November 8, 2007, Foreign Minister Oskanian received a delegation headed by Christine Egerszegi-Obrist, Speaker of the Swiss Confederation National Council.
Welcoming the guests, Minister Oskanian expressed appreciation for the increased Armenia-Switzerland bilateral contacts in the recent period and the Armenian-Swiss Parliamentary Friendship Group’s active and effective work.
Minister Oskanian also said he was pleased that relations between the two countries are on even more solid ground as a result of these frequent meetings. He underscored the importance of Switzerland’s participation in the Rural Development Program.
At the request of the the guests, Minister Oskanian presented Armenia’s foreign policy priorities, relations with neighbors, the latest developments in the Nagorno Karabakh settlement process,as well as Armenia-Turkey relations.
In her turn Mrs. Egerszegi-Obrist presented the purposes of their visit to Armenia and expressed her impressions. Mrs. Egerszegi-Obrist stated that their goal is to support the development and eurointegration processes of the countries which have european direction.
The two spoke about the cooperation in the spheres of economy, education and culture, as well as the prospects of Armenia-Switzerland cooperation in international organizations.
Minister Oskanian highly appreciated the enough deep attention of Switzerland’s Foreign Ministry in regard to the destruction of Armenian cultural monuments in Jugha and hoped it to be continued.
