Minister Oskanian Met with Vice President Mohammad Aliabadi of Iran
18 August, 2007Vartan Oskanian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, received the delegation headed by Mohammad Aliabadi, Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Head of the Iranian Athletic Organization. The guests were in Armenia on the occasion of the Fourth Pan-Armenian Games.
Minister Oskanian welcomed the Iranian delegation which included the Armenian athletes participating in the Games, and expressed appreciation at the warm level of Armenian-Iranian relations and noted with pleasure that the high-level meetings this year between the leaders of the two neighboring countries has benefitted Armenian-Iranian political, economic and cultural relations. The minister stressed Armenia’s appreciation of the Iranian authorities’ considerate approach towards Iran’s large Armenian community, which serves as a link in the development of bilateral cooperation in all areas.
Vice-President Aliabadi spoke about the activities his agency carries out for the development of sports. He elaborated on the need to work to deepen cooperation in that direction and considered the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Armenian Sports and Youth Issues Ministry and the Iranian Athletic Organization an important step.
