The answer of Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan to the question of News.am

16 April, 2016

Question. Mr. Kocharyan, how would you comment on the inclusion of provisions on Nagorno-Karabakh in the Final Communique of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation?

Answer.
Provisions in the Communique, imposed by Azerbaijan and Turkey, completely distort the essence of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, which is the result of Azerbaijan’s policy of suppression of Nagorno-Karabakh people’s right of self-determination through military means.

The very wording rejects the respect for peoples’ right to self-determination, which is one of the goals of the OIC and on which the establishment of most of the Organization’s member-states is based.

The actual aggressor, Azerbaijan, is presented as a victim, something that Baku will consider as a support for unleashing of new cycle of aggression and give a religious pretext to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

It is disconcerting, that Azerbaijan, which is fighting against the self-determined people in the manner extremist terrorist organizations, and Turkey, which causes waves of regional instability, terrorism and bloodshed, were able to yet again include their provocative approaches in the document of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
