The answer of the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Shavarsh Kocharyan to “Armenpress” News Agency.

08 December, 2013

Question- Mr. Kocharyan how would you comment the recent statements of Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on regional issues?

Answer-
Before visiting Yerevan for participation in the Meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of BSEC, the Foreign Minister of Turkey instead of making provocative statements which undermine the possible positive developments in the region would rather use the opportunity and visit the Genocide Memorial in Yerevan and pay tribute with a minute of silence to the victims of Genocide.

Turkey can contribute to the regulation of relations with Armenia by ratifying and implementing the 2009 Zurich protocols without any preconditions.

If Turkey wants to accelerate the process of establishing civilized relations between the countries of the region it should recognize the Armenian Genocide organized by the Ottoman Empire and open the Armenian-Turkish border closed by itself.
