On May 6, in Bratislava, Visegrád Four and Eastern Partnership countries ministerial meeting was held, attended by Foreign Ministers of Visegrád Four countries: Miroslav Lajčák, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia; Tomáš Petříček, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic; Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary; Jacek Czaputowicz, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland; as well as Johannes Hahn, the Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy of the European Union; and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Moldova, and Georgia, and Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Ukraine from Eastern partnership member countries.

In his remarks, Foreign Minister of Armenia Zohrab Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of holding meeting in such format ahead of the 10th Eastern Partnership Ministerial Meeting in Brussels and a high-level conference, which gives an opportunity to analyze the achievements of the Eastern Partnership over the past 10 years and exchange views on the vision with the Visegrád Four as well.

Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan characterized the Eastern Partnership as an important platform supporting Armenia's cooperation with the EU. The Foreign Minister of Armenia emphasized the importance of coordinating the differentiation and consolidation of cooperation with the individual countries within the Eastern Partnership, as well as the perception of consensus among the EU member states on the Eastern Partnership. From this point of view, it was especially emphasized that Armenia views the Eastern Partnership as partnership based on common European values.

The Armenian Foreign Minister emphasized that at the heart of the Eastern Partnership should be the human, the promotion of the latter’s rights and freedoms and, accordingly, the encouragement of people-to-people contacts. In this context Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the visa liberalization that will serve as a new impetus for the strengthening of partnership between Armenia and EU member states.

Touching upon the security issues and the impacts of conflicts, the Foreign Minister of Armenia stressed that conflict situations are different and have different impacts on the partner countries, so it is necessary to provide a unique approach based on the particularities of the situations.

Minister Mnatsakanyan highly assessed the regulatory framework of the Armenia-European Union partnership - the CEPA, which, among other opportunities, can contribute to the promotion of Armenia's economic development and modernization agenda, including through sectoral cooperation. From this point of view, Minister Mnatsakanyan highlighted the importance of balanced development of regional interconnectivity programs.
