At the 16th summit of the International Organisation of La Francophonie held in Antananarivo a unanimous decision was adopted to hold the 17th Summit of La Francophonie in 2018 in Armenia. \r\n

The Ministers discussed the possibilities to develop relations between the two countries in political, economic, educational and cultural areas. In this regard the importance of creating legal framework was highlighted.

Ministers Nalbandian and Araiji discussed efforts aimed at the strengthening of cooperation within the framework of the International Organization of La Francophonie, as well as the OIF Summit’s agenda issues. \r\n

Minister Diop presented the efforts aimed at the maintenance of security and stability in Mali and highlighted the importance of Armenia’s participation in the UN peacekeeping mission.

Edward Nalbandian, Foreign Minister of Armenia, will deliver remarks at the Summit.

At the end of the meeting the Foreign Minister signed the Protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The Ministers recalled with warmth the meeting held last year in Yerevan on the sideline of the OIF Ministerial Conference. The sides discussed the process of implementation of agreements reached during that meeting. \r\n

During the meeting, the Ministers exchanged views on the steps aimed at developing bilateral relations. \r\n

On November 24, while paying a working visit in Antananarivo, Edward Nalbandian, Foreign Minister of Armenia, had a meeting with Marie-Claude Bibeau, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie of Canada. \r\n
