General information

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay were established on May 27, 1992.

In 1965, the Uruguayan parliament was the first to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide.

Since 1996, the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Argentina has been jointly accredited in Uruguay.

Since February 1997, Uruguay established Honorary Consulate in Armenia.

Since January 2019 Carlos Sgarbi von Steinmann (residence in Tehran) assumed the duties of the Ambassador of Uruguay to Armenia

In August 2019 was opened the Consulate General of Uruguay in Yerevan (Consul General - Eduardo Rosenbrock).

On December 6-8, 2014 - Official visit of Vice President, President of the Senate of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay Danilo Astori. Meetings with President, President of National Assembly, Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs as well as the Catholicos of all Armenians took place.
