Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Romania were established on 17 December 1991.

On 22 January 2024, Tigran Galstyan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Romania, presented his credentials to the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis.

On 4 July 2019, Cornel Ionescu, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the Republic of Armenia, presented his credentials to the President of Republic of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian.
