Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Malta were established on 27 May 1993.
On 18 December 2008, Artur Aleksanyan was appointed Honorary Consul of Malta in Armenia (residence in Yerevan).
On March 23, 2017, Victoria Bagdassarian, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia (residence in Rome) presented her credentials to Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, President of Malta.
On 7 February 2018, Natasha Meli Daudey, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malta (residence in Warsaw) presented her credentials to Serzh Sargsyan, President of the Republic of Armenia.
