General information

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and Turkmenistan were established on October 9, 1992.

The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Ashgabat was opened in 1994.

The Embassy of Turkmenistan in Yerevan was opened in 2000.

In 2018 Mukhametgeldy Ayazov has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Armenia.

In 2024 Arsen Avagyan has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Armenia to Turkmenistan.

On September 13, 2022, political consultations at the level of Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Turkmenistan took place in Ashgabat.

Cultural sphere

From October 27 to 29, 2024, Days of Armenian culture were held in Turkmenistan.

In May 2024, a monument to the Armenian poet Sayat-Nova was placed in the "Magtymguly Pyragy" cultural park in Ashgabat, alongside monuments of renowned thinkers from around the world.

From May 31 to June 2, 2023, the Days of Turkmenistan culture were held in Armenia.

Trade and economic relations

On March 26, 2025, the 10th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Turkmenistan took place in Yerevan.
