Germany
General Information
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Republic of Germany were established in January 1992.
On December 1, 1992, the Embassy of Germany was opened in Yerevan.
The Embassy of Armenia in Germany was opened in 1994.
On November 5, 2021, Viktor Yengibaryan was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Federal Republic of Germany.
Since August 30, 2024, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Armenia has been Claudia Busch.
In Germany, honorary consuls of the Republic of Armenia operate in the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Hamburg, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Thuringia. The Office of the Honorary Consul of Germany operates in Gyumri.
On December 9, 2025, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, and the Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Friedrich Merz, signed the “Joint Declaration on the Strategic Agenda for Bilateral Partnership between the Republic of Armenia and the Federal Republic of Germany”․
Germany supports Armenia's sustainable economic development, environmental protection, and democratic reforms. This support was reaffirmed in the outcomes of the Armenia–Germany intergovernmental negotiations on development cooperation held in Berlin on October 30–31, 2025.
