Remarks by Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian at “Sustainable Development Goals and implementation of the Agenda 2030: Armenia’s experience” roundtable discussion

In our view, Sustainable Development Goals are representing a kind of a test, both on national and international level. From international perspective, the process is and will continue to display to what extent the member states are ready for cooperation on regional and international levels in implementing these targets. From the national point of view, it will help to reveal the strong and weak sides of the practical implementation of our Goals. more ...

Remarks by Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian at the Armenian premiere of "The Architects of Denial" documentary

There is no doubt that this film is a new step in the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, in raising awareness about it, in the fight against new genocides and the evil of its denial and it makes an essential input to the universal efforts of keeping the promise of “never again”. I would like to thank all those who have contributed to this valuable movie. Today, many of them are present here, at the Armenian premiere. Please join me welcoming the co-producers of the movie, American cinema and television stars Dean Cain and Montel Williams. more ...

Remarks by Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian at the session of the National Security Council

Since its independence Armenia has tried to establish relations with Turkey. However, the Armenian-Turkish relations were in the deadlock when the President of Armenia initiated the process of normalization of relations with Turkey back in 2008, which was based on the vision of normalisation of relations without preconditions. more ...

Statement by Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, at the High Level Segment of the 37th Session of the UN Human Rights Council

Thirty years ago, during these very days in February 1988 anti-Armenian pogroms broke out in Azerbaijani Sumgait leaving numerous Armenians killed, maimed and deported. They were perpetrated by the authorities of Azerbaijan with the aim to punish Armenians for the peaceful aspirations of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh for self-determination. more ...

Statement by Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Foreign affairs of Armenia at the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament

Inter-parliamentary cooperation has been an indispensable and integral part of the political dialogue between Armenia and the European Union. The opening of the Center also creates wider opportunities for raising the awareness about Germany in our country, spreading the German language and culture, promoting educational exchanges and deepening intercultural dialogue. I am hopeful that through the joint efforts we will also take this important step in the nearest future. more ...

Statement by Edward Nalbandian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia at the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation

Statement by Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece

25 years ago the diplomatic relations were established between the newly independent Republic of Armenia and the Hellenic Republic. The regular high level visits gave new impetus to our partnership and outline the main areas of cooperation. In this regard I would like to highlight the visits of President Serzh Sargsyan to Greece in 2016 and the visit of President Karolos Papoulias to Armenia in 2014. We meet frequently with the Foreign Minister and my good friend Nikos Kotzias in different international formats. Recently I hosted Minister Kotzias in Yerevan and now I have the pleasure to be in Athens to continue our discussions. more ...

Statement by Edward Nalbandian Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia at the 24th Meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council

The consequences of the closure of the OSCE Office in Yerevan pertain to very essence of the OSCE, which is designed to settle the issues through dialogue and cooperation and never through imposing the position of one participating State at the expense of all others and the entire Organization. It created a very negative precedent. The refusal of Azerbaijan to join the consensus on the extension of the mandate of the Office damaged not merely the integrity of the field missions of the OSCE, but its capacity of inclusive cooperation. Azerbaijan failed to respect the OSCE commitments and eliminated the OSCE Office in its own country before it attacked and closed the last OSCE full-fledged mission in the region. It is particularly deplorable that the Office was closed against the will and consistent efforts for its preservation exerted by the host country and all participating States with one exception - Azerbaijan. We would like to recall that both German and Austrian Chairmanships rejec more ...
