Chief of the Agency

Armen Yeganian was appointed as Chief of the State Protocol Service Agency by the decree of the Prime Minister of Armenia on October 10, 2017. He was Armenia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Canada from 2011 to 2017. Mr. Yeganian served as Permanent Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) in Montreal for the same period.

Previously, from 2007 to 2011, Armen Yeganian was the Director of the American Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During this time he was also the Secretary of the United States-Armenia Task Force (USATF).

From 2003 to 2006 Mr. Yeganian was posted to the Embassy of Armenia in USA, Washington, DC, as Counsellor.

Prior to that, from 2000-2003, he served in different positions in the Consular Department of the Foreign Ministry, becoming its Director in 2002. During this time he helped establish the Governmental Commission on Combatting Trafficking-in-Persons. He also co-authored and implemented the e-Visa project. From 2001-2003, Mr. Yeganian conducted Document Examination courses as Trainer, organized by IOM.

From 1997 to 2000 Armen Yeganian was assigned to the Armenian Embassy in US as Consul and Cultural Attaché. In 1999, he took the “Government Study” programme under the State Department, Washington, DC, USA.

In 1996-1997 Armen Yeganian worked at Armenia’s Embassy in Russia, Moscow, as Attaché.

Mr. Yeganian joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995 and worked in the Consular Department until April 1996.

In 1992, Armen Yeganian received Master’s degree from the Yerevan State University, graduating from the Armenian History Department. Prior to that, from 1985-1987 he was Modern History student in the Leningrad State University, with the focus on North American History.

From 1987 to 1989, Mr. Yeganian was conscripted to the Soviet Army and was discharged as Sergeant.

Armen Yeganian is married and has three children.

He is fluent in Armenian, Russian and English languages and with the knowledge of the basic French and Spanish.
