Edward Nalbandian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, reported today to the President of the Republic on the activities undertaken by the Foreign Ministry towards active involvement of Armenia in the work of international organisations, envisaged steps and achievements, including the decision reached at the recently held XVI Summit of the International Organisation of La Francophonie based on which Armenia will assume in 2018 the Chairmanship of this organisation as well as inclusion in one of the Summit’s final resolutions of the provision on full support of member states of the organisation for the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The President of Armenia gave a number of instructions to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia towards organizing the Summit at the highest level stressing the importance of Armenia’s active engagement in international organisations for building successful foreign relations.
Minister Nalbandian also reported on Armenia’s foreign policy priorities for the meetings to be held next week at a number of international organisations with Armenia’s participation, such as the Foreign Ministers’ meeting on nuclear security in Vienna, the Ministerial Meeting within the framework of the NATO Resolute Support mission, the Open Governance Partnership Summit in Paris, as well as the Meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Hamburg.
The President of Armenia drew the Minister’s attention to the instructions to be given to diplomats at the traditional gathering in Paris of the Ambassadors of Armenia accredited in European countries aimed at consistent and active work in the economic area while taking into account the new programme of the Government and the reforms being implemented in our country. Serzh Sargsyan instructed Edward Nalbandian to hold the next Ambassadorial meeting in Armenia with the participation of all Armenian Ambassadors. President Sargsyan spoke about his approaches to the work towards intensification of economic diplomacy.
