Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia participated in the Economic Conference held in Minsk


On October 26-27, “Laying the foundation in the UNECE region for economic integration and sustainable development towards 2030” International Conference took place in Minsk, co-hosted by the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. The objective of the Conference was to discuss the perspectives for economic integration and cooperation to ensure sustainable economic development. The discussions focused on the areas related to trade, transport, energy and green economy, investments.

Andrei Kobyakov, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, Vladimir Makei, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, and Mr. Christian Friis Bach, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of UNECE, delivered opening remarks at the event.

At the Conference Robert Harutyunyan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, delivered speech, outlining the importance of organizing such an event and expressing confidence that it will contribute in the elaboration of ways to develop and enhance economic cooperation of the countries of the region. He presented Armenia’s approaches to the integration processes and outlined the country’s role as a gate to big markets.

In his remarks the Deputy Foreign Minister touched upon the perspectives of Armenia’s economic development, its investment attractiveness, Armenia’s efficient economic cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union, the European Union, as well as with the neighbouring countries, particularly, Iran and Georgia.

High level delegations representing Russia, Kazakhstan, the CIS Secretariat and the Eurasian Economic Union attended the event and delivered remarks.
